In space, Supernova and Noob Noob, the last surviving members of the Vindicators superhero team, battle Snowball (Morty’s former pet dog, given super and malevolent intelligence by Rick). Noob Noob is killed and Supernova falls to Earth in flames, destroying the house across the street from Rick and Morty. Supernova pleads for help to combat the threat. Rick reluctantly agrees to “put out an intergalactic call for superheroes and host [a tryout] to create a new team that can help save Earth”. The final page reveals the mysterious cloaked figure behind the crisis, whose goal is to kill Rick.
