Rocky Lane arrives in town and intervenes when a gambler known as Jokеr is threatened by the ruthless Dude Hampton. After rescuing him, Rocky learns Jokеr works at the Circle-J spread and is led to a secret hideout with the ranch owner’s son, Spunky, while a mysterious figure on the Storm River bank begins to suspect the boy’s whereabouts.

Pedro tries to paraphrase a sentence for his teacher, but his humorous misinterpretation — "The sight of her doubled him up!" — leads to a surprised reaction. Meanwhile, the boastful Hollywood visitor Greg Halsey arrives at the Bar T ranch, claiming to be a big shot in movieland and insisting he’s not a yes man, much to the amusement of the locals.

Frank tricks Dee Dickens into preparing for a nonexistent meeting with his boss’s beautiful daughter, only to reveal he made the whole thing up as a joke. Dee, eager to impress, goes through the trouble of bathing, shaving, and dressing up—only to be left embarrassed when the girl never arrives.

Rocky Lane arrives in Canterville Territory to ensure a fair election, where two seemingly honest candidates—Val Tyler and Jim Wright—vye for mayor. When Rocky uncovers suspicious ties between Wright and a crooked gambler, as well as evidence of cattle rustling on Wright’s ranch, he suspects the candidate is hiding a dangerous secret. As night falls, Rocky and Tyler prepare to follow Wright to a hidden meeting at Boulder Patch, where the truth may be revealed.
