This issue contains two stories: "Loco Hew—Minin' His Business," in which a prospector discovers gold, and "Chief Gray Matter," featuring Rocky Lane and his stallion Black Jack. In the latter story, Rocky discovers that a scholar and his gang have rustled cattle from Chief Gray Matter and are being taken to the village where the tourists are going to be killed, prompting Rocky and the Secret Marshal to devise a rescue plan involving a false idol to distract the badmen while they free the hostages and apprehend the criminals.
