Ben Lee receives the assignment from his firm to retrieve the 'Flame of India' diamond from India where the Maharajah has agreed to sell it. On the morning of his departure he is injured in a fall and cannot travel. Without telling anyone, Miranda decides to take his place. When she gives the pre-arranged signal at the airport, her contacts are confused since they were expecting Ben. A famous diamond thief, the 'Jack of Diamonds' takes advantage of the situation and kidnaps Miranda so he can steal the diamond.
