The small South American republic of Morovia is on the brink of revolution against a ruthless dictator as a young English girl travels by train to take up a post as secretary to a friend of her father's in the capital. When the train is stopped by guerrillas who want to steal the gold intended for the despot, the girl momentarily tears the leader's mask from his face and recognizes him. Since no one else had seen his face, the revolutionary leader pulls her from the train and forces her to ride with them so she won't reveal his identity to the federal troops.
