"The Acid Test" follows Susan, who is in love with Craig Radcliffe but must pass his mother's approval before he will declare his love for her. When Craig takes Susan to meet his mother for tea, Mrs. Radcliffe subjects Susan to a series of tests and humiliations, deliberately breaking her prized china and mocking her clumsiness. Susan ultimately stands up to Mrs. Radcliffe's cruelty and leaves with Craig, who declares his love and reveals that his mother's scheming was meant to break their bond—but instead it confirms that Susan is right for him.
