Jean is engaged to museum archaeologist Bill and finds him somewhat boring. Their wedding is postponed because Bill has to travel to Egypt for his work. Months pass and Jean is lonely, so she accepts an offer from old friend Rita to go on some double dates. Jean meets Rick and falls in love with him and the “never ending merry-go-round” of wild parties, but he doesn’t propose. Bill returns and Jean realizes “there was no excitement” when he kisses her. Bill and Jean break up. But Rick says “I took you out for kicks!” and never intended to marry Jean. She’s left alone.
