“First Date”

In "First Date," Sherry’s desperate bid to impress at a charity event takes a chaotic turn when she trades her matinee tickets for borrowed clothes—only to ruin them with nail polish. Rushing to the cleaners, she accidentally falls down the laundry chute, spraining her ankle and missing the event. But when the boy who works there shows up with a kind gesture, Sherry finds herself on a different kind of date. Guido Buzzelli’s expressive artwork brings the humor and heart of this charming, mishap-filled story to life, with his distinctive inks adding depth to every panel.

Sherry desperately wants to borrow some new clothes that Karen and Bett have bought for a charity event. She offers to exchange two tickets for a Saturday matinee for the use of their clothes. When she spills nail polish on the borrowed clothes, she rushes them to the cleaners. But the tickets are with the clothes and as she tries to grab them as they go past her, she falls down the laundry chute. Having sprained her ankle, she can't go to the charity event, but goes out with the boy who works at the cleaners.
