Romeo #21 March 1964
In "The Modbeats," young Jo finds herself caught between annoyance and empathy when her neighbor John’s late-night music spills into her quiet evenings. When a record shop van arrives and takes John’s player, Debbie’s sympathy grows—especially when the man returns it, repaired and not repossessed as John had feared. A quiet moment of connection unfolds over a shared record, with Norman Lee’s expressive art capturing the small, telling details of a neighborhood in tune.
