Runaways #3
In "True Believers Chapter Three," the Runaways flee with Victor in tow, only to face a shocking accusation: he’s supposedly destined to destroy Earth’s heroes. As Victor insists he’s just a regular kid mourning his father and idolizing heroes, the group’s fragile trust is tested when Excelsior closes in. With Darkhawk losing control and the team fracturing, the Runaways make another desperate escape—just as Ms. Mancha learns her son has been taken, setting off a quiet but ominous call. Written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Adrian Alphona, with inks by Craig Yeung, colors by Christina Strain, and letters by Randy Gentile and Virtual Calligraphy, the issue’s cover by Jo Chen captures the tension in a single, charged moment.

The Runaways escape from Excelsior in the Leapfrog and take Victor as their hostage. Vic is genuinely shocked when the Runaways accuse him of being an evil villain who will one day kill all of Earth's heroes. He insists that he is a normal school kid who misses his dead father and loves super heroes. Excelsior tracks down the Runaways and starts another fight. When Darkhawk goes postal and starts beating on his own team, the Runaways escape again. Ms. Mancha discovers that her son has been kidnapped and makes a mysterious phone call.
