“Hopeless Love”

"Hopeless Love" in Sabre Romantic Stories in Pictures #35 (1973) delivers a quietly charged tale of mistaken identity and unexpected romance. When Peter’s business hangs in the balance, he enlists his team for a countryside shoot—only for a local girl, Helen, to catch his eye, her likeness to the famed model Mary Bertrand sparking both a campaign and a growing affection. The story unfolds with a gentle tension, as Peter’s feelings deepen, unaware that the woman he’s drawn to may be the very image he’s chasing. Cover by typeset.

Unless Peter can come up with a good publicity campaign for a major customer, his business will not be able to pay their bills. He takes his assistants out to the country where Dave takes pictures of Carole for the campaign. While there, a local girl comes up to them and Dave notices her resemblance to a famous model, Mary Bertrand. Peter talks her into modeling for him, knowing she will probably be mistaken for the famous model. He falls in love with Helen and feels guilty only to discover that Helen actually is Mary Bertrand.
