Poor Sad Sack can't catch a break — the cover of this 1955 Harvey Comics issue finds our hapless soldier getting absolutely drenched in a green splat straight from the army's field kitchen, while a cheerful cook in a tall white hat stirs away without a care, and a smartly dressed woman looks on from a distance. George Baker's cartooning is wonderfully expressive, capturing that perfect mix of slapstick misery and military absurdity that made this series "loved by millions." A delightful ten-cent snapshot of mid-1950s humor comics at their most charmingly chaotic.
