Paul Cornell and Jimmy Broxton's Vertigo series keeps its unsettling momentum going with this October 2012 installment subtitled "A Field Guide to Flying Saucers." Ryan Kelly's cover sets the mood perfectly: a lone red truck rolls down a desert highway lined with roadside billboards, while dozens of flying saucers swarm a sickly yellow sky above a warning sign bearing a classic alien silhouette. It's the American Southwest rendered as something deeply strange — wide-open spaces that suddenly feel very crowded.
