Savage Sword of Conan #14
In "Web of the Spider God," Thongor finds himself trapped and defeated by the Demon of Zangabal, only to forge an unlikely alliance with the imprisoned Ald Thurmis. As they escape the dungeons, Thongor must wield the legendary Shield of Cathloda to confront the Demon, triggering a chain of events that shatters the Black Mirror and awakens the ancient Aqquoonkagua. Written by George Alec Effinger and illustrated by Val Mayerik, with inks by Vince Colletta and lettering by John Costanza, this 1975 Marvel UK classic features a cover by Barry Windsor-Smith that captures the tale’s dark, mythic tone.
