“I Had Two Loves”

In "I Had Two Loves," Judy finds herself caught between two men in the tight-knit town of Lortonville, where the wealthy Lorton family holds sway. As she navigates her new role at her uncle’s newspaper, she’s drawn to the reckless Derek—only to face a moral test when he asks her to cover up a serious accident. The story unfolds with quiet tension and emotional depth, all rendered in the expressive style of artist Sid Greene. The cover, by Paul Gustavson and Bill Ward, captures the story’s romantic intrigue with a touch of vintage charm.

Judy travels to Lortonville to work on her uncle's newspaper. The town is dominated by the wealthy Lorton family: Derek is the "wild son." Judy's co-worker Ken warns her that Derek is "poison to girls" but she thinks he's prejudiced against rich people. Judy dates Derek; his politician father asks Judy to warn him if the newspaper plans to publish any "ugly gossip" about the family. When Derek hits a boy with his car and drives away, he demands Judy keep this a secret. She refuses and Ken defends her against Derek: Judy realizes she loves Ken.
