Tjippen, en nyfiken hund med ägarfamiljen, drar igång en picknick i skogen med en bok som heter "Vinn vänner!" i sin näsa. Med allvar i ögonen försöker han bli vän med en skunk – men det slutar med en doft som inte ens hans ägare kan lida. När doften sprider sig, blir picknickens stämning snabbt avslutad, och familjen åker hem med Tjippen i bagaget.

In the rugged frontier of 1954, the Durango Kid slips into the shadows, posing as a bandit to infiltrate the notorious Giftdalen—a hidden valley controlled by a ruthless gang. With Red Larson, Slash, Ragge, and Muley as his unlikely allies, he must earn their trust before the truth of his mission can be revealed.

In a tense showdown at the stables, young Jocke pleads with stallchef Virgin and Ragge Borst not to let antagonist Tommy take over training Rollo, the horse. When they ignore him, Jocke’s fears are confirmed as Tommy cruelly abuses the animal, leading to a desperate confrontation where Jocke fights back—only to be struck with the whip himself. As the pain overwhelms him, he collapses, unaware of what comes next.
