“Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu!”

"Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu!" kicks off a bold new chapter in the legend of Marvel’s Master of Kung Fu, with Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin teaming up to craft a story that redefines the character’s origins. As Shang-Chi, the son of the enigmatic Fu Manchu, is sent to England on a deadly mission, he’s forced to confront the truth about his father’s sinister legacy—only to face a far greater reckoning when he returns to his father’s hidden lair in New York. The dynamic art of Jim Starlin, with inks by Al Milgrom and vibrant colors by Steve Englehart, brings the action to life, while Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson deliver a striking cover that captures the intensity of Shang-Chi’s transformation.

Shang-Chi is a master of martial arts and the son of Fu Manchu, a Chinese mandarin and scientist. Fu Manchu sends Shang-Chi to England in order to assassinate the evil Dr. Petrie for the common good. Shang-Chi reluctantly agrees, but after the deed is done he is confronted by Sir Denis Nayland Smith, a former British intelligence officer, who tells him the truth about Fu Manchu; that he is a nearly immortal evil mastermind. Shang-Chi travels back to his father's secret lair in New York and renounces him. Fu Manchu swears to kill Shang-Chi for his defiance.
