Snarked #3
In "Fit the Ninth: The Lion and the Unicorn," Roger Langridge's sharp wit and inventive storytelling take center stage as the Bellman’s crew finally reaches Snark Island. After navigating traps and freeing the legendary Lion and Unicorn from their duty, they confront a king who’s forgotten his own children—only to find their escape cut off by sudden fog and a destroyed landing craft. With Langridge handling every aspect of the art and lettering, and Lisa Moore’s colors adding subtle depth, this issue blends whimsy and tension in equal measure. The cover, also by Langridge, captures the moment’s eerie stillness with a striking, moody composition.

At last, the Bellman's ship reaches Snark Island. The Bellman, Butcher, Beaver, Walrus, McDunk, Rusty and Scarlett head ashore, evade booby traps and meet the chained-up Lion and Unicorn who are guarding King Russell. After liberating the Lion and Unicorn from their duties they find the king is quite content to remain on Snark Island and doesn't truly recognize his own children. The Walrus forces the king to depart, but they find fog has come in to obscure their ship and something has destroyed their landing craft.
