“Magnéto triomphant !”

In "Magnéto triomphant !", the X-Men break free from their restraints only to confront Magneto in his icy Antarctic stronghold. As the base collapses around them, lava floods the tunnels, leaving the team stranded beneath the frozen surface—Phoenix barely rescuing Beast as the others vanish into the inferno. Written by John Byrne and Chris Claremont, with dynamic art by Byrne and inks by Terry Austin, this 1980 special features a fiery climax and a cover by Jean Frisano that captures the chaos in bold, striking detail.
