Captain Valiant, ace of the Interplanetary Police Patrol, encounters a hostile alien creature on an unexplored planet and must fight for survival against both the beast and enemy forces. After escaping the creature with ray guns, Valiant and his crew discover a secret hidden kingdom on Mercury ruled by King Beem, whose land is now under attack from the neighboring kingdom of Thalt. Valiant's old friend Rusty Brian, a spaceforce pilot, reveals he is the first outsider to visit Beem's secret civilization in centuries, and the two must work together to defend the kingdom against its enemies.

When a clue—yellow chalk found on the boots of captured raiders—leads them to Nansus's hidden camp in the Bolwol Heights, Valiant devises a daring plan to turn the rebels' own gun positions against them. The hunt for the rebel leader culminates in a desperate confrontation atop the cliffs.
