Sparkler Comics #87 is an anthology featuring multiple stories. The cover story, illustrated by Ernie Bushmiller, depicts children dealing with a water shortage by creatively reusing water for washing dishes, a dog, and watering plants. An interior story follows two young boys presenting flowers to Princess Tamale, who initially appreciates their gift but then strikes them with a club after they compliment her "sweet language," leading to slapstick consequences. Another story depicts a romantic encounter between a man and woman in a car, where the man attempts to impress the woman (Jane) by distancing himself emotionally, claiming to think of himself as merely "part of the car," before ultimately confessing his love and asking her to marry him, which she accepts.
