In "Stålflickans förbannelse!", Stålflickan is deceived into believing she’s been radiation-poisoned and that her touch kills all superbeings. Convinced she’s a danger, she agrees to be exiled to the Fantomzone—unaware that the sinister agent Sklor is behind the scheme, setting the stage for a Mutorian invasion of Earth. Written by Leo Dorfman and illustrated by Jim Mooney, with lettering by Sune Käll, the cover by Dick Giordano captures the eerie tension of her isolation.

Stålflickan blir lurad att tro att hon blivit strålningsförgiftad och att hennes beröring dödar alla supervarelser. Hon går med på att bli skickad till Fantomzonen, så att ingen mer ska dö. Det visar sig att den mutorianske agenten Sklor ligger bakom planen att oskadliggöra Stålflickan, vilket sen kan leda till en mutoriansk invasion av Jorden.
