Collette leaves her fiance in Paris to take an au pair job in England for a widow and her children. She immediately has a positive impact on the family. But her fiance's letters are infrequent and talk only of money. Meanwhile, she finds herself attracted to the man she is giving French lessons to and everyone mistakenly think they are engaged. When Collette is framed for smuggling a valuable piece of art that a neighbor in Paris had asked her to deliver, Alan flies to France to get the evidence to clear Collete of the charges.
