“The Nightmare War!”

In "The Nightmare War!", a young soldier named Phil finds his recurring nightmares of being chased by dinosaurs take a terrifying turn when his unit is dropped into a mysterious island where prehistoric beasts are real. Written by Robert Kanigher and brought to life by Ross Andru’s dynamic art and Mike Esposito’s sharp inks, the story blends wartime tension with surreal adventure as the men battle dinosaurs with grenades and artillery—only to question whether they’ve escaped their dreams at all. The cover by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito captures the moment of flight and dread, a 12-cent glimpse into a war that feels more like a waking nightmare.

Phil works at cleaning in a dinosaur museum, and has nightmares of being chased by one. Luckily the war comes along... but now his buddies are suffering the same nightmare. Towed by a glider, they fly through a cloud and crash on Dinosaur Island. They fight dinosaurs with grenades and a 155mm howitzer until a dinosaur wrecks it. "Maybe this is a dream." Snatched by a pterodactyl, they shoot it to drop through the cloud -- and splash next to a destroyer. Still, that night in sick bay, the nightmares are back...
