The Romulan fleet attacks the Vulcan fleet over Ceti Alpha V. The USS Enterprise arrives to aid the Vulcans. Arix and Rella plan to deploy the Red Matter to wipe out the Vulcan fleet. Arix has a change of heart and overpowers Rella and flies their ship away from the Vulcan fleet, using the Red Matter to only destroy their ship, sparing the Vulcan fleet. Kirk convinces the Vulcan elders to listen to the elder Spock's warnings not to settle on Ceti Alpha V. Later the Vulcans settle on planet Simon-316. Three thousand years later, Spock is remembered as one of the greatest of all Vulcans.
