The intensity of the starship race escalates when the Zorruvian ship is destroyed by Zephyx with most of their crew lost. Pike and the crew of the Enterprise work to continue the race while trying to find the bomb that Zephyx has planted on the Enterprise. Meanwhile, Una makes a proposal to Corsok to work with Pike to defeat Zephyx, while Spock continues to learn to adapt to working with the Karogie ship.
