# Startling Comics #31 The main feature "The Fighting Yank, Super-Patriot" presents two action-packed stories. In the first, Dick Martin works late in his laboratory developing a magnetic repulsion field weapon to defend against enemy aircraft and tanks when his building is invaded by saboteurs; he fights them off and discovers one of the attackers is an old man he suspects of Nazi sympathies. In the second story, The Fighting Yank battles to save a massive battleship from destruction, using his strength to hold up a collapsing support structure and rescue the vessel from sinking after enemy saboteurs attempt to bring it down. The issue also features young characters investigating a suspicious pencil dropped by saboteurs and uncovering a spy ring operating from a local luncheonette.
