Superman Confidential #5
In "Kryptonite Book Five," Superman grapples with a mysterious connection to a man named Gallo, whose hidden past ties directly to the alien origins Superman has long sought to understand. As Clark Kent recovers from a kryptonite exposure, a series of revelations unfold—leading to a tense reunion with Gallo, who claims to be more than human and may hold the key to Superman’s past. Written by Darwyn Cooke and rendered in Tim Sale’s signature moody, atmospheric style, with Dave Stewart’s evocative colors and Richard Starkings’ sharp lettering, this issue builds quiet dread as Superman confronts the truth—while Lex Luthor closes in. The cover, by Tim Sale, captures the moment’s intensity with stark, deliberate lines.
