Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #29
In "The Superman Book That Couldn't Be Finished," Jimmy Olsen stumbles upon a pair of mysterious spectacles that reveal glimpses of the future—visions so vivid they terrify him, especially one showing his own drowning. Determined to escape the fate he’s foreseen, Jimmy takes drastic measures, only to find Superman has a different plan: turning the near-tragedy into a lesson through a "safety first" film. Written by Otto Binder and brought to life with Curt Swan’s precise art and Ray Burnley’s inks, this 1958 tale blends sci-fi curiosity with a touch of whimsy. The cover, penciled by Swan and inked by Stan Kaye, captures Jimmy’s wide-eyed surprise perfectly.

Jimmy accidentally gets hold of spectacles from a scientific villain, and finds out that they can show the future. One of the visions he sees shows his death from drowning. Trying to avoid that fate, on the fateful day he makes sure he is not going to be where the vision shows he will drown; just to have Superman take him there anyway. But then he finds out Superman wants him to be an actor in a "safety first" film about the dangers of drowning.
