A woman named Lydia uses feigned illness to keep her boyfriend Ben from spending time with his ex-girlfriend Elaine, eventually confessing her scheme when Ben discovers the deception. After their wedding plans are set for spring, Lydia's past comes back to haunt her when an old hit-and-run case involving a stolen car resurfaces, forcing her to flee town to protect Ben and their future together. Dan, a man from a dress manufacturing company, offers Lydia a fresh start and a business opportunity, but she must choose between building a new life with him or returning to Ben, ultimately deciding to convince Dan that they should work together toward opening their own dress shop instead.
