Tales of Terror Picture Library #3
In "The Day the Worm Turned," a terrifying underground menace emerges when a group of miners vanishes without a trace, leaving behind only a deep, unexplained tunnel. When a second group disappears, mine manager Peter Travis calls in biologist Sam Lever, who uncovers a horrifying truth: the earth is teeming with monstrous worms, each capable of regenerating from a fragment. With the help of a desperate plan and a flood of sea water, the survivors face an ancient, relentless threat. Cover by Keith Chatto, this 1973 Australian horror tale delivers a chilling blend of science and dread, with typeset lettering and a gripping, visceral story.

A group of miners is devoured by a massive worm. The authorities are unable to solve the mystery, but when a second group disappears, a mysterious deep tunnel is found in the area. On a hunch, mine manager Peter Travis calls a biologist friend Sam Lever, who discover thousands of worms emerging from the ground. A plane strike shreds the monsters, but new worms grow from each piece. On Sam's advice, the area is flooded with sea water and the worms are killed by the salt.
