With the village hiding Dombie to sell him to Muviro’s enemies, Boy must face Kururi’s terrifying tales of the night-walking Makuru, even as the sorcerer summons wild lions with goat’s blood. Hövding Muviros sonson Dombie har rymt hemifrån. Tarzans son Boy försöker hitta honom. Spåren leder till en by som leds av hövding Kisumu, som står under häxdoktorn Kururis kontroll. De nekar till att ha sett Dombie, men håller i själva verket pojken fången för att sälja honom till Muviros fiender. Häxdoktorn försöker skrämma bort Boy med berättelser om Makurus vålnad som återvänder till byn om nätterna i lejonskepnad, men Tarzans son är inte så lättskrämd. Häxdoktorn lockar lejon till byn med getblod, men Tarzans tama lejon Jad skrämmer det vilda lejonet. Tarzan och hans son fritar Dombie.
