In "Opars juveler," Tarzan, injured and stripped of his memory after looting gold from the lost city of Opar, is manipulated by Werper, who steals his pouch of jewels. With Tarzan wandering the jungle, the Waziri return home believing him dead—only to learn that Achmet Zek has captured Jane and set out in pursuit. Meanwhile, Tarzan, captured by the Beast-Men of Opar, breaks free, forces them to submit to La, and begins a wild quest to reclaim his "pretty pebbles."
