In "I Was Scarred by Love!", a 1951 gem from St. John, Matt Baker's expressive art brings to life Karen's emotional journey as she tries to move past heartbreak by volunteering at a V.A. hospital. Drawn into the quiet world of recovering soldiers, her guarded heart begins to soften—especially when she finds herself thinking of Ray, a patient whose presence stirs something new in her. The cover, also by Matt Baker, captures the story's poignant mood with striking detail.
