This issue contains multiple stories. "Nothin' but Guts" follows a competitive race featuring a 409 Chevy in the final turn with Leech Panwell's Barracuda in a tight battle, complicated by fuel concerns and the finish line approaching. A separate story features a young man who excels at swimming and model airplanes but struggles with social confidence; after accidentally meeting Walter Melon near a car, he becomes involved in Melon's automotive pursuits. "Melon Head" (Part 2) follows Walter Melon as he attempts to prove his driving skills and acquire a hot rod, heading to a local speed shop to find a suitable car despite others questioning his readiness for such responsibility.
