A Marine who has gotten into trouble is defended by a sergeant and brought before a colonel; after several hours, the Marine admits he sneaked back to base after being told not to arrest him the first time, and explains he had to defend himself after two guys tried to start trouble with him. The colonel, furious at the Marine's involvement with a woman, drops charges and promotes him to sergeant. In a humorous sidebar, a Marine tries to impress a woman by calling her various romantic names, only to be rebuffed when she points out his empty pockets.
