The Amazing Spider-Man #249
In "Secrets!", Peter Parker attends a party at Harry Osborn’s mansion, only to find Harry mysteriously withdrawn after receiving a strange delivery. When Peter follows him, he uncovers a shocking conspiracy: Harry is being blackmailed by the Hobgoblin, who’s extorting a secret network of powerful men—including J. Jonah Jameson—through fear and intimidation. With the stakes rising, Spider-Man confronts the Hobgoblin at a tense meeting, only to be overwhelmed by a new, sinister goblin gas that silences his spider sense, leaving him vulnerable as the Kingpin steps in to intervene. Written by Roger Stern and illustrated by John Romita Jr., with inks by Dan Green and colors by Bob Sharen, this 1984 issue features a cover by John Byrne.
