“Gun from the Heart!”

In "Gun from the Heart!", Spider-Man is pulled into a deadly game of manipulation when Justin Hammer uses Silver Sable to hire him against the dangerous Cardiac—only to then send Boomerang to eliminate Spider-Man himself. Meanwhile, a shocking twist unfolds behind bars: Eddie Brock’s release from prison is orchestrated by the Venom symbiote, leaving behind a single, ominous drip to bond with the unstable Cletus Kasady. Written by David Michelinie and illustrated with sharp energy by Mark Bagley, with Randy Emberlin’s inks and Bob Sharen’s colors bringing the tension to life, this 1991 issue features a cover by Erik Larsen and Randy Emberlin that captures the chaos perfectly.

Through Silver Sable (and without his knowledge of who the real boss is), Justin Hammer hires Spider-Man to take down Cardiac and then hires Boomerang to take down Spider-Man. Eddie Brock is freed from prison by the Venom symbiote, but as he leaves his cell, a little drip from the costume stays behind to keep Cletus Kasady company.
