The Captain and the kids encounter a flying saucer while out and about, causing confusion and alarm. After the Captain is struck by the vessel, the kids take him to a doctor and hotel for recovery. The Captain subsequently has a mishap involving a snake, and the group later becomes involved with Inspector Giffins regarding various misadventures. In a second story titled "Captain and Kids in the Circus," the Captain and children cause chaos at a dining table and during a circus visit, with the kids making promises about washing dishes that lead to further comedic troubles.

When chaos erupts at the boarding house, the Captain finds himself juggling wild animals, lovelorn poets, artistic guests, and the relentless mischief of the kids—each arrival bringing fresh bedlam that tests his patience and his hotel's already-fragile composure. From escaped livestock to bewildered scientists to would-be butlers, no two moments are alike, and keeping the peace proves impossible when the kids are determined to keep the fun booming. It's a delightful parade of slapstick disasters that showcase why running an inn with these two around is a never-ending adventure.

When the Captain takes the kids out for a drive and ends up soaked in a roadside accident, Aunt Sophie's arrival at the station sends him scrambling to fetch her—but the day spirals into pure chaos as Hans and Fritz hijack a newfangled "kid-proof" canoe, a traveling circus juggler named Professor Ali-Bazaza wreaks havoc over dinner, and a series of mishaps involving rain barrels, clothes lines, and the Captain's own bumbling transform the household into absolute pandemonium. It's a rollicking five-page romp where nothing goes according to plan and every solution only makes things worse, all rendered in R. Dirks' signature slapstick style.
