The Carl Barks Library of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories in Color #39
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects a selection of classic Disney comics stories illustrated by Carl Barks, originally published in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories. Part of Gladstone's 1990s series reprinting Barks' work in full color, it showcases his signature blend of humor and adventure featuring Donald Duck and his nephews.
In "Riding the Pony Express," Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie join a reenactment of the historic Pony Express, with Donald assigned to deliver the mail. When he stumbles upon a crashed plane and learns the pilot is in danger, Donald takes it upon himself to deliver urgent government documents—real mail, not the planned fake—despite the risks. As the reenactment unfolds, his nephews and the others prepare to ambush him at the pass, unaware he’s carrying something far more important than a prop.
