The Creech #2

“Awakenings”

In "Awakenings," Greg Capullo's bold artistic vision brings to life the fractured consciousness of the Creech, a creature born from stolen science and a dying man’s last desperate act. Hunted through the city and tormented by conflicting impulses—violence and compassion—Creech stumbles into the sewers, where a shocking encounter with a baby forces even his fractured mind to pause. With Capullo’s dynamic pencils and Miki’s sharp inks defining every tense moment, this issue sets a haunting tone as alien forces close in, drawn by the genetic trace left behind.

Dr. Battu has been killed by his boss Dennis Dross but not before he transferred part of his consciousness into the monstrous Creech. Creech escapes from the labs and begins an internal struggle between his violent programming and Battu's desire to help and nurture as he is hunted through the streets. Dross lets reporter Chris Rafferty live even though he witnessed the murder of Battu. Rafferty tracks Creech into the sewers and is surprised to find him protecting a little baby. The aliens who were part of Creech's make-up come looking for their stolen genetic material.
