A man is held captive by a masked woman who forces him to reveal the location of an outlaw's secret hideout; the peigans worry about the boy and devise a plan to rescue him using clues he left behind. Johnny uses his cunning to escape and later helps mark the trail to the hideout with salt, enabling the peigans to track him through a canyon. When they locate the hideout in a narrow canyon with high walls on all sides, they plan to attack; during the rescue, the boy is nearly struck by a sharp stone but manages to escape safely. The story concludes with the peigans celebrating the successful recovery of the boy and their discovery of a new hideout they can use in the future.
