Boot Hill Cemetery in Dodge City earned its notorious name from the gunmen buried within its grounds—nearly all of whom died with their boots on during the lawless 1870s and beyond. This non-fiction account traces the graveyard's rise as a final resting place for some of the West's most infamous killers and outlaws, capturing the violent era when honest citizens lived in constant fear and the marshal's work never ceased. Though Boot Hill has since given way to a city hall, the epitaphs and legends of those buried there remain preserved in history.
