Max Hammer has been turned into a monster by Bruce Banner's gamma cure and he lashes out at the Hulk. During the battle, the Hulk begins to revert to his mindless, brutish state as he tries his best to kill Hammer. Rom shows up looking for Dire Wraiths and finds only victims of the gamma cure quickly dying. Rom uses his neutralizer to heal the victims and remove the gamma radiation from their cells. He tries the same trick on the Hulk but finds even his powerful alien weapon is not strong enough to cure the jade giant.
