The Incredible Hulk #316

Feb 1986 · Marvel · 0.75 USD; 0.50 GBP; 0.95 CAD
“Battleground”

In "Battleground," the Hulk lays waste to a New Mexico town while four of Marvel's mightiest heroes converge to stop him—only for Doc Samson to call off the assault, insisting he’ll bring the beast down alone. With She-Hulk at Bruce’s bedside, hoping an experimental treatment will awaken her cousin, the fragile hope of a cure hangs in the balance as the Hulk’s fury rages unchecked. Written and illustrated by John Byrne, with cover art by Byrne, this 1986 issue delivers a tense, character-driven clash of wills and a rare moment where the Hulk’s rampage is matched by the quiet determination of those trying to save the man beneath.

She-Hulk arrives at the hospital where her cousin Bruce is in a coma and decides to let the doctors try an experimental treatment to snap him out of it. Hulk destroys a New Mexico town and four of the strongest Avengers show up to stop him. Doc Samson calls off the heroes and they agree to give him a little time to bring in the Hulk all by himself. Bruce's treatment works and he wakes up, Hulk-free, to be reunited with Betty.
