In "The Loaded Burros," Young Hawk and Little Buck track deer through a snowy wilderness, only to find themselves caught between a pack of wolves and a sudden ambush by a band of Crow Indians. Written by Gaylord Du Bois and illustrated by Rex Maxon, this 1953 Dell adventure captures the tension of survival and sudden danger in the frontier. The cover by Don Spaulding perfectly frames the moment’s urgency, a classic entry in the Lone Ranger series.
