The Lone Rider confronts a gang of white men who have murdered Native Americans and are framing Indians for the crimes. After discovering the culprits' plot through an Indian legend about a horse that lost its speech, the Lone Rider works with an Indian boy and Hermit to ambush and apprehend the killers. The story concludes with the Lone Rider learning to make a burro talk by forcing its tongue against the roof of its mouth, a technique the old hermit had taught him days earlier.
