The Menomonee Falls Gazette #89
In this 1973 issue of The Menomonee Falls Gazette, written and illustrated by Dan Barry, a quiet moment in the jungle turns eerie when Demura, the Kohrian, begins a strange chant that sends Betty into a trance. As the others gather wood, she follows him without resistance, leaving Captain West to sound the alarm. With Betty vanished and the jungle alive with danger, Tarzan picks up the scent of both Tarmangani and Numa, while Terry finds himself face-to-face with a lion and a panther at once. The cover by Dan Barry captures the tension of the moment, a 45-cent comic of mystery and suspense from a bygone era.

While the others are gathering wood for a fire, Demura, the Kohrian, voices a weird chant that causes Betty to follow him in a trance-like state. Ultimately, with her faculties numbed by the weird chant, Demura picks Betty up and carries her away. When Captain West returns to find Betty missing, the party goes searching for her. Meanwhile, Tarzan has picked up the scent of Tarmangani (white man) and Numa (lion) and investigates. During the search, Terry encounters a lion and a panther at the same time.
