"Renouveau" sees Moira convincing Xavier to gather a new generation of mutants after rescuing a girl with lycanthropic abilities, setting in motion the formation of the New Mutants. As Xavier reaches out to young mutants, they're targeted by soldiers loyal to Donald Pierce, leading to a confrontation in Kentucky where Sam Guthrie, manipulated by Pierce, attacks them—only for Xavier to be captured. With time running out, the young mutants must act to save him before Pierce destroys his mind. The story, written by Chris Claremont and Makma and illustrated by Bob McLeod, features vibrant colors by Glynis Wein and dynamic lettering by Laurence Hingray and Christophe Semal, with a cover by Bob McLeod.

Pensant les X-Men morts, Moira convainc Xavier de rassembler la prochaine génération de mutants après avoir sauvé une fille qui peut se transformer en loup. Xavier commence à contacter de jeunes mutants et découvre qu'ils sont attaqués par des soldats de Donald Pierce. Arrivés au Kentucky, Xavier et Rahne sont attaqués par Sam Guthrie qui a été dupé par Pierce. Xavier est capturé. Les mutants essaient de le sauver avant que Pierce ne détruise son esprit. Ensuite, Xavier leur donne des uniformes et, une fois que Sam est arrivé et accepté dans leurs rangs, les Nouveaux Mutants sont nés.
