The Night Man / Gambit #3
In "One of You," the tangled fates of two John Domingos collide as Gambit, Candra, and Rhiannon find themselves caught in a deadly clash between versions of Night Man. Written by David Quinn and illustrated by Dietrich Smith, with inks by Norm Rapmund and colors by Andrew Covalt and Malibu, this 1996 Marvel issue explores the ripple effects of a death that echoes across dimensions—leaving one hero to walk away from the fight, and another to return to the Ultraverse with a new purpose. The cover by Dietrich Smith and Joe Phillips captures the tension perfectly.

Gambit and Candra and Rhiannon and Night Man and the other Night Man fight. One Night Man dies and the other returns with Rhiannon to the Ultraverse. Somehow, John Domingo's death in the Marvel Universe causes the people in the Ultraverse to think he is dead which leaves the other John Domingo free to hang up his tights and concentrate on playing the saxophone in seedy nightclubs.
